@BET Steps Up the Respect Factor for African Artists: Tiwa Savage, Ice Prince, Mafikizolo to Perform at BET’s L.A. LIVE Experience Presented by Coca-Cola

Congrats to BET for stepping up the respect factor for African artists, after how many years of the African diaspora community and those on the continent insisting they do. Considering they profit from African viewers on the continent and here in the States, it is good to see them take a stance and step towards the right direction.

Read the release below. By the way, Tiwa Savage is a Pepsi ambassador for Africa. It is interesting to note, from a business and legal standpoint that if she was on the continent, there would have been an issue and conflict of interest for her to perform at the L.A. Live experience given it is sponsored by Coca-Cola and artists on the continent are restricted, in their endorsement deals, from these kinds of situations.

Artists, when you negotiate your endorsement deals, you always want to remember to limit the scope, especially where geography/music markets are concerned. This gives you more wiggle room and opportunities to have diverse streams of income from diverse markets beyond your current one.

Cheers,
Uduak
