Celebrities Behaving Badly: Groupie Exposes WIZKID’s Alleged Cheating, Sends Warning Message to his Girlfriend

WizkidOmotayoI saw the story below on Bella Naija and honestly, I miss the Bella Naija of the past and even the last few years. Many times when I am on BellaNaija now, I feel like I am on Linda Ikeji. While Bella still does have some restraint on content that is published, it appears to be just any and all things goes these days. I don’t want to read about a groupie’s sexual encounter, and accompanying photos with an artist  on BellaNaija. Also, considering how hurtful the statement is as it particularly targets Wizkid’s girlfriend, I am unsure why BellaNaija deemed it necessary to publish such statement on its platform and to protect the identity of the groupie.

I know the digital media space is now quite competitive but brand owners should pay attention to brand dilution in trying to stay competitive. BellaNaija is not Linda Ikeji and I, as a long time regular reader, eight years and counting, do not want BellaNaija to become Linda Ikeji, not at all.

Also, these days, when I visit Linda Ikeji, I find myself saying, “gosh, I don’t feel good about being on this site. Linda Ikeji is daily morphing into one big dumping website for all kinds of junk.” Also as a long time reader of Linda Ikeji, she has always had a bit more of a vetting  process even though she covered any and all news, but these days, everything and anything goes as well.

Fast becoming a favorite for me, in light of the changing nature of the content of the aforementioned two sites, is That1960Chick.com. The blog is witty, funny, and also seems to have an effective curating process, even if it reports similar stories like Linda and Bella.

In any event, I again honestly think BellaNaija should have refrained from publishing this story because the mailer is not focused on the artist Wizkid but on his girlfriend and telling her to backoff from her own boyfriend; even though the groupie is the one clearly encroaching and deliberately so in the relationship between Wizkid and his girlfriend.

As for Wizkid, dude is spiraling out of control if the allegation is true. Indeed, what a terrible look from a brand perspective and of course devastating for his girlfriend Tania Omotayo, if in fact true. Most of his fan base are women and while it is probably no surprise to see women fawn all over him, they probably want to feel like they are that special to him, not that he hits it and goes on to the next one like a kid with no self control.

We’ve seen Wizkid go from that artist that everyone loved to being labeled arrogant, difficult to work with, having unnecessary “beef” with fellow artists i.e. Davido and dealing with allegations of failing to produce good music, in recent times.

As if that’s not enough, we can now add the inability to keep his pants zipped to the mix. It’s a reminder of a fact we already knew when the web was flooded some few years ago with a young woman who was an alleged groupie he impregnated. Wizkid stepped up, claim the child as his and has been quite the responsible father. He also entered into what seemed like a committed relationship with his girlfriend Tania Omotayo, until this.

A few things AML artists:

Wizkid will probably not be the first or last artist to have sexual encounters with random groupies or regular ones outside of his so called committed relationship with his girlfriend. What’s a bit different is he doesn’t know how to separate the personal from the business where the focus in the public eye is on his music, rather than his inability to keep his pants zipped.

Also, it is one thing to cheat. It is another thing for the woman you cheat with to get on the public highway and try to embarrass your woman that has been loyal to you. Like how would you even expose your woman to such nonsense?

Two questions for you:

1. Should BellaNaija have published this?

2. Do you think Wizkid is losing his focus  on his music?

Yep, definitely share your sentiments on the BN change in direction…was shocked when it started happening…not necessary at all.

No No! This is not in conjunction with the brand for Bella Naija in my mind. Totally unnecessary
