Almost two weeks ago, Harrysong shared the news that he had been sued by his record label owner Five Music for “human rights violation.” He shared a copy of the face of the complaint filed against him and I have since been wondering what the human rights violation claim is. I have also inquired but nothing seems forthcoming. AML people have you ever heard of a record label or record label owner suing an artist for human rights violation? I also see Five Star’s artist manager, Soso Soberekon, who was fired and rehired by Five Star was also sued.
AML people have you all ever heard of a record label or record label owner suing an artist for human rights violation? This is a “wawu” lawsuit. It’s an “e get as e be” lawsuit meaning it makes no sense, so far. This is particularly so because it appears, based on what all sides have shared in the public sphere, that Kcee has been the one antagonizing Harrysong since the onset of this brouhaha last year. At every step of the way, lest anyone forgets, Kcee reminds us he can wield and does wield power over Harrysong.
The story so far:
- In 2014, Harrysong signed a recording deal with Five Star Music group after Five Star chose to allegedly buy him out of his deal with Questionmark Entertainment.
- In late 2016, rumor flourished that Harrysong was leaving Five Star. Harrysong denied it.
- Shortly after, November 2016, Harrysong announces he has a new label, AlterPlate.
- About February 1, 2017, we read that Harrysong was arrested at the request of Five Star for alleged violations of his contract.
- By February 3rd, Harrysong announces he was shutting his label and returning to Five Star. We also hear he was forced to sign a new contract with the label.
- By May 2017, Harrysong leaves Five Star and re-establishes his label.
- July 2017, Kcee has now sued for human rights violation.
I am trying to understand why the claim is that of a human rights violation not a breach of contract? What human rights violation? Harrysong was the one allegedly thrown in jail and forced back to the label. So what violation?
Kcee, can you let us know what human rights violation?
For Harrysong, you are overly dramatic. The statement you put out of your lawsuit below is offensive and an attempt to damage reputation. You signed a contract with Kcee. You are not a kid. If it is not working out, instead of walking out, and doing this “apologize” because of elders thing, lawyer up. I don’t understand this very unprofessional approach to the music business and the constant attempt to get the public’s sympathy. Get your music business house in order. This your “una see me dey suffer” thing you do with the public is tiring. You are trying to run a new label. How will you do so when you can get the basics sorted out with Five Star, in a court of law? You keep doing this run to the public thing, Kcee sues you for “human rights violation?”
These people are not serious, at all.
